We are human.

We humans are not perfect; we make mistakes and we learn from that.

If throughout our lives we make no mistakes, wouldn't it place us on the same par with God? I say this because most religions portray its respective god or gods as perfect beings without mistakes and faults.

Life is beautiful and equally cruel if you choose to walk the wrong path. Do you self reflect every day to acknowledge your strengths and flaws?

Time bear many changes and it makes no exceptions for us humans. The point is, are the changes for the better or the worse? You are obviously not the same person you were 5 years ago. Did you observe how far you have come and does the outcome satisfy you?

Besides self reflecting, do you pay attention to the people who have walk in and out of your life? By now, you would have met interesting characters. Some make your day better while some bring you down. Some are trustworthy while some are backstabbers. Over time, did you learn how to face the people you met? Compare the number of friends you have with your enemies to know the answer.

I personally think the worst mistake in life is to die with regrets. Life should be an adventurous odyssey and not a boring repetitive pattern. Life should be live on the road less taken. And the best thing in life is not to avoid making mistakes but to gather your guts to overcome them.

Are there any mistakes you regret making? You can't undo them but take each as a lesson learned.

Appreciate what you have. Do not make a silly decision that could make you loose everything. Every time you have a bad day, do not compare yourself to others. We are all blessed in our lives but we often fail to realise that until it's too late.

Achieve the balance in life by doing the right thing. Be proud and yet humble. Be outspoken and yet open minded. Love and believe, have faith and hope; they will keep you company during those difficult moments. You may complain when the goings get tough but never ever give up.

If you're faced with a big obstacle, do not get frustrated. I mean really, what is a life without problems? Isn't it boring if things are easy all the time? Take these obstacles as challenges. Don't let them weaken you, turn things around instead!

The most successful people didn't come on top easily. They are the those who managed to seize control of their life and make a better change. In difficult times while others quit, they work harder and become stronger. They see possibilities instead of dead ends.

Be the best person you could be. Being yourself is like buying shoes; you could buy many pairs but only one will fit you perfectly.

Realise your strength now. You may be only human, but you are still capable of greatness. Live well.

Human Values

A wise man once said,

The end of wisdom is freedom;
The end of culture is perfection;
The end of knowledge is love;
The end of education is character.

He went on to share:

If there is righteousness in the heart, there will be beauty in character;
If there is beauty in the character, there will be harmony in the home;
If there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nation;
If there is order in the nation; there will be peace in the world.
(Sathya Sai Baba)

What are human values?
Values are something of "relative worth, merit or importance." Thus human values are the gems that we are gifted with: the power to love; the power to speak the truth; the power to spread peace; and the power to do the right thing.

Values are to human as colour is to the eye;
Values are to human as music is to the ear;
Values are to human as taste is to the tongue;
Values are to human as comfort is to the estranged;
Values are to human as true beauty is to human.

I invite you to join me and continue the list: "Values are to human as ____ is to ___."

Vote for values.

Gratitude

10 years ago, I came across a quote that would transform my life a little for the better. It came in a simple forwarded mail, and it read:

"A single word of thanks sent up to heaven is the most perfect prayer."

It turned out to be a good chisel that helped shape positive attitudes in me. A spiritual master shares, remember death and the good others do for us. Forget the bad others have done to us and the good we have done for others. A leader expands on death and shares: make it a point to attend funerals, and observe. Observe what will one day happen to us; how within a few hours our body will depart, and if you're Hindu, how within a month just a photo hangs on the walls; and how within months, our photo moves to the back of the home and eventually into dusty drawers. When we think about death, how important are the petty things in life?

In the Valentine spirit of love and appreciation, last week I decided to have a theme, or rather attitude of the week: APPRECIATION. I started my days with appreciation, I filled my days with appreciation and I ended my days with appreciation. I was content with the little pretty things and I tell you I was one happy child! At the end of the week I found myself saying O Gratitude, I believe in thee! This week has been so pleasant!

So I invite you to take this on with me! Or do you have other fun activities for implementing APPRECIATION? If so, what are they?

Love,
Lav.
